Fence Built at Homeless Camp in Indio

CREATED May. 2, 2012

INDIO - Those living in a homeless camp in the east valley are moving from that site as a fence will be going up on the property.

The camp is on Indio Boulevard behind the One Stop Shoppe Market.
The homeless camp is on Indian land those living there received a 24 hour warning that a fence would be going up around the property.
Its expected the fence should be finished in about a week. The owners of the One Stop Shoppe set up shaded structures and bathrooms behind the store to help those living at the camp. If anyone tries to stay as the fence nears completion, police may be called in.
Some residents at the camp say they plan on moving to other homeless camps in the Whitewater wash.
