Public Safety Officers Worried About Heat

CREATED Apr. 21, 2012

COACHELLA VALLEY - The desert cities are experiencing triple digit heat for the first time in 2012 and that has some local public safety officials concerned.

Indio Police and Fire officials are urging people, especially those attending the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, to play smart this weekend and take precautions to protect themselves from the heat and the sun.

The forecast for the Coachella Valley has high temperatures ranging from 102 to 107 for Saturday and Sunday.

Public safety officials say if you're going to be out in the sun and the heat remember to dress appropriately, wear light clothing during the warmer part of the day; drink plenty of water and avoid excessive drinking of alcohol and sweetened drinks like soda pop and don't forget the sunscreen.
