RANCHO MIRAGE - A bicyclist has died at a Coachella Valley hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Cathedral City Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the crash near Da Vall Drive and Ramon Road happened about 12:15 p.m. and involved at least two vehicles and a bike rider.

Authorities closed the intersection of Ramon Road and Da Vall Drive, as well as surrounding routes. The road closures are as follows, and are expected to remain in place until 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. Wednesday:

·         Intersection of Da Vall Dr. at Ramon Rd. near Desert Memorial Park
·         East bound Ramon Rd  - commuters are encouraged to find alternate routes of east bound travel at Date Palm Drive
·         West bound Ramon Rd. from Bob Hope/I-10 diverted onto northbound Da Vall Dr. to McCallum Way or 30thAvenue.
·         South bound Da Vall Dr.  Ramon to Dinah Shore
·         North bound Da Vall Dr. Dinah Shore to Ramon
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and find alternate routes of travel.
