Disney Fan Club Comes to Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS - Members of D23, the official Disney fan club was in Palm Springs this week for a three-day gathering at Walt Disney's vacation getaway, Smoke Tree Ranch.

Richard Sherman of the Sherman Brothers performed before the club members.

The Disney music composer is best known for "Chim chim cher-ee" and "Supercalifragilis ticexpialidocious" in the film "Mary Poppins."

The voices of Mickey, Donald Duck and Goofy also made an appearance.

Disney fans participated in screenings, presentations and activities throughout the week.

Disney and his family spent weekends and holidays at the Smoke Tree Ranch in 1954.

Disney sold his home at the ranch to help finance Disneyland, later purchasing another home at the compound in 1957.
