Bill Clinton Gets Humana Challenge into Swing
Day one of the Humana Challenge teed off today in La Quinta, ushered in by a surprise visit from former President Bill Clinton.
Former President Clinton's presence is helping revive the golf tournamnet, which for decades was the Bob Hope Classic.
"My dad and mother had a lovely relationship with him and got to really know him, so to have him involved as one of the hosts of the tournament is something very special," said Linda Hope, Bob Hope daughter.
Humana and the Clinton Foundation are using the tournament to promote healthy living.
"[Bill Clinton's] involvement with this and the health matters conference is a huge peice of it, trying to drive an agenda and a national conversation over the nations fitness and health," said Humana CEO, Mike McCallister.
Top golfers like Matt Kucher and Greg Norman are playing for the million dollar prize.
Morgan Freeman also made his rounds today.
"I'm feeling pretty good about playing out here today, this is going to be my first time out," said Freeman.
