Police Search for Suspects in Home Invasion
The search is on tonight for two men involved in a home invasion robbery.
The suspects allegedly invaded a home on Mirage Cove Drive in Rancho Mirage around 9:45 Monday morning.
Police say three people were in the home at the time. No one was injured.
The suspects allegedly stole money and the victim's red Ford truck. The suspects, then, drove the truck around the corner to GG's restuarant parking lot on Highway 111. From there the suspects allegedly stole another car---a white compact car.
The suspects reportedly tied the victims up and had tasers with them, but police did not confirm that information.
"There's no indication that any weapons were used at this point. This is early on in the investigation," said Sergeant Joe Borja, the Public Information Officer for the Riverside Country Sheriff's Department.
Police haven't said the motivation behind the robbery but neighbors have their suspicions.
"I suspect drugs. What you see goes on and the activity here, it's drugs," said Kip Dishman.
Several neighbors say they saw a drug sting at the very same complex just a few days ago. Police did not confirm or deny those reports.
"The investigation is still ongoing. No idea if it was drug related at this point," said Borja.
One suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, wearing a white and black jacket. The only description for the second suspect is that he is a dark skinned male. Now police are searching for the men and the white car they allegedly took off with.
