New Inpatient Rehabilitation Center Open for Patient Care

CREATED Jul. 7, 2011

RANCHO MIRAGE- Patients requiring intensive therapy after stroke or other debilitating medical conditions now have a new rehabilitation center close to home.

Eisenhower Medical Center has expanded its services by opening the Coachella Valley's newest and largest inpatient rehabilitation center.

"Eisenhower's Inpatient Rehabilitation Center will be an integral part of the continuum of care," says Michael Weinstein, MD, Medical Director of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center. "We will provide three hours of therapy a day with 24-hour rehabilitation nursing care coverage in a new, beautiful environment that promotes healing."

Eisenhower's 23-bed, state-of-the-art Center fills this gap, providing intensive therapy by a multidisciplinary team of physical, occupation, recreational and speech therapists, rehabilitation nurses, physiatrists, social workers, case managers, rehabilitation psychologists, dietitians and pharmacists.

The Center will care for patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, spinal cord dysfunction, amputation, joint replacement, neuromuscular conditions, arthritic conditions and other conditions that have impaired their independence. Additionally, both the patient and their family will learn to manage impairments that affect self care, mobility, communication, cognitive skills and other activities for daily living.

Equipped with five private rooms and 18 semi-private rooms, the Center's design is not only state-of-the-art, but also aesthetically appealing. It has a large open space for gait and transfer training, a training kitchen and bathroom, outdoor training space, car module for transfer training, and cardio and strength training equipment.
