Next Winter Storm Looks Wet Not White For Valley

The inversion started to weaken on Thursday, and should continue to weaken through today as an impressive storm approaches the area. The Treasure Valley has a Freezing Rain Advisory starting at 8pm, the West Central Mountains has a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 8pm, and it has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning in the East Central Mountains starting at 11pm.

The mountains should get 5-8" of snow with 8-12" possible in some of the ski areas tonight into tomorrow evening. The freezing rain looks to turn into rain in the valleys on Saturday morning, but there is a chance of a rain snow mix that would leave the roads very slick going into Saturday afternoon. The wind will pick up on Saturday and a cold front passing thorugh should clear out what is left of the valley inversion leaving the lower elevations with partly cloudy skies and some evening rain or snow showers tomorrow.

Pomerelle Mountain Resort is opening this weekend but stay tuned to see if any ski areas get enough snow to join Sun Valley in opening by Thanksgiving.
