Wetter Weather Finally To Arrive

The strong upper level ridge that dominated our weather pattern for much of January is going to be replaced by a more zonal flow the first week of February.  This means the Treasure Valley will be changing from an inversion dominated pattern with widespread fog, stratus clouds, and cool temperatures to a more active pattern in which several storms sweep through the region bringing much-needed rain and snow along with mild temperatures for this time of year. The mountains will be switching from a sunny and very warm pattern to more of a snowy and colder pattern.

All of this change will be started on Sunday night as the first storm comes in. Look for rain showers across the Treasure Valley with highs in the mid 40s on Monday. The mountains will see several inches of snow through Tuesday with highs in the mid 30s.

Conditions will dry out just a bit on Wednesday and Thursday as we will be between storms. By Friday another storm will be swinging through the region bringing more rain to the Treasure Valley with highs around 50 and more rain and snow to the mountains with highs around 40 in the Long Valley. Be sure to bring an umbrella if you are heading to winter carnival next Friday or Saturday.
