Flash Flood Threat

Autumn arrives on Monday and here in Idaho it will bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms. An upper level low will spin over the area on Monday bringing with it the possibility for locally heavy downpours which could lead to flash flooding in some places. In the mean time a flash flood watch has been issued for Ada County, southern Elmore County, southern and eastern Owyhee County, Camas County and the Magic Valley through Sunday evening. Another one could be issued on Monday if conditions are right.

The upper level low will drift east and out of our area by Tuesday afternoon and sunny skies will return. A ridge of high pressure will move across the region Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday bringing lots of sunshine and high temperatures about 10 degrees above average for this time of year, in the mid 80s for the Treasure Valley.

A cold front will move through the area on Thursday night bringing a chance for rain showers to much of the area. Temperatures will be much cooler as well, with highs only in the low 70s for the Treasure Valley both Friday and Saturday. Sunny skies will return for the weekend and temperatures should be quite comfortable.
