‘Weird Al’ Yankovic enlists celebrity pals for video parody of ‘Happy’

We can’t really say “Weird Al” Yankovic is back, because he never went away, but the parody song comic is making a high-profile splash this week by releasing a video a day for eight days on his web site, starting today.

He begins with “Tacky,” a parody of Pharrell Williams’ mega-hit “Happy.”

The video (watch it below) features guest appearances by a handful of actors and comics, including Jack Black, “Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet, Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho and “30 Rock’s” Kristen Schaal.

According to Nerdist, “the video was shot on location at the historic Palace Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, the same space that was used as Julianne Moore’s apartment in ‘The Big Lebowski.’”

“Throughout the video we are treated to a wonderful deluge of clashing colors, socks-and-sandals, Jack Black’s backwards sequin fanny pack, and dance moves that resemble a fit of ataxia,” Nerdist reports. “Every aspect of the video is so tastefully tasteless, that we’re pretty sure tackiness will be the look of the summer.”

The #8videos8days stunt is an effort to promote his latest album, “Mandatory Fun,” due out Tuesday.

Yankovic tells Nerdist ”I am very proud of it. I think its my best album to date.”
