An adult-sized doe recently jumped or fell off of a highway overpass and smashed into the front windshield of Heidi Conner's minivan loaded with her four children in Barrington, Ill.
“Never in my career have I seen anything like this,” Illinois Police State Trooper Justin Novarro tells CBS Chicago. The doe reportedly jumped, fell or was hit by another car on the Illinois 72 overpass and fell onto I-90, and Conner's vehicle, confirms an eyewitness.
“If it had been one inch to the left, it would have been dead center," Conner further shares with CBS Chicago. "I wouldn’t have been able to control the car. And one inch to the right, it would have killed my son."
Conner's car was totaled and the family, unfortunately, only had liability insurance on the vehicle. Shockingly, however, none of the passengers were seriously injured. Conner's shoulder was injured. All four children are reportedly fine.
