Brooklyn resident allegedly lived with deceased mother for three years
Brooklyn, New York, resident Chava Stirn, 28, allegedly lived with the body of her deceased mother, Susie Rosenthal, 61, for an estimated three years without anyone knowing.
A law-enforcement source tells the New York Post, “It’s a scene right out of ‘Psycho'... This is one of the weirdest cases I’ve ever seen."
At the dinner table, "Stirn set Rosenthal’s bones on a bed of trash bags in the kitchen of their Borough Park apartment, a law-enforcement source said," reports the New York Post. "For the slumber parties, she dragged a chair into the kitchen to snooze next to the corpse — leaving her twin bed covered in stacks of paper."
Neighbors allegedly told police that they had never seen Stirn nor Rosenthal. It was only when the building's super wanted to check a leak in the apartment on Monday that police were alerted, because Stirn would not allow access into their residence.
Emergency workers knocked the door down to gain entrance inside. "When cops approached Stirn, she was acting 'erratically,'" further reports the New York Post. "She was taken to Maimonides Medical Center for a psych evaluation."
According to the New York Post, "She believed her mom had 'left her there to die,' a police source said."
Rosenthal's cause of death is currently being investigated.
