Carnivores have something to celebrate after the unveiling of a new sandwich, and the best place to do so is at Arby’s.
The Arby's Meat Mountain hit (most) stores on August 17 and features chicken tenders, turkey, ham, corned beef, brisket, steak, roast beef, swiss cheese, cheddar cheese and, of course, three strips of bacon. That's all between two buns, and all for "only" $10.
Though there's controversy about how the monster sandwich was born. Arby’s will tell you it made its way to menus after repeated requests by customers to have a sandwich that resembled an in-store poster featuring every meat option stacked on top of each other.
Challengers of the fast food chain’s claims say the sandwich was a marketing ploy developed by none other than Arby’s itself. Whatever the case may be, in the end, most people just want a taste.
Laura Reiley, a Tampa Bay Times food critic, checked the mountain out for herself.
She writes, “So how was the most expensive fast-food sandwich these days? The bun maintained integrity so the whole thing didn't devolve into a meat pile; the brisket and corned beef added meaty oomph to the anemic flavor of Arby's traditional roast beef; and even the chicken tenders, something I ordinarily don't think of as an 'ingredient,' conspired to make the whole zestier than the sum of its parts."
