Over the next 48 hours, the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas will host the 2013 Mountain West Media Days. Head coaches and player representatives from all 12 Mountain West teams will descend upon the city of sin to provide the ultimate preview for the upcoming football season.
Broncos' coach Chris Petersen will be available for the first time since the spring game, and he’s brought along two stars of his offense- incumbent starting quarterback Joe Southwick, and first-team all-conference tackle, Charles Leno. Southwick is one of seven QB’s in attendance. Preseason MVP-pick Derek Carr of Fresno State will be in Vegas, as will Wyoming’s junior stud Brett Smith and Hawaii’s new starter, Taylor Graham.
We’ll get our first look at San Jose State and Utah State as members of the Mountain West and hear from their resident gunslingers, David Fales and Chuckie Keaton. After for decades with the Wolfpack, former Nevada coach Chris Ault will not be posted up in the Condesa 3 conference room. Instead, Brian Polian will make his debut and represent the navy blue and silver.
On Tuesday, MWC Commissioner Craig Thompson will speak on behalf of the conference. How happy is he to have the Broncos and Aztecs back, after both teams flirted with the Big East? What are the plans for the league’s first championship game? And will the Mountain West seek further expansion in the future?
Boise State’s first kick off is 41 days away, but football season starts Monday, right here on Today’s 6 and Fox 9.
