Hundreds of former Broncos attend alumni practice

Boise State welcomed over 350 former players back to the blue for Friday afternoon's spring practice. Familiar faces included Austin Pettis, Jeron Johnson, Jamar Taylor, Tommy Smith, Daryn Colledge, Korey Hall, and many more.

"It's really just a fun time to be back here for Boise State," said Peter Cavender, a former offensive lineman who graduated in 2007. "With all the changes happening... What a better time to be a Bronco than right now."

"I kind of feel old now, but I'm loving it," laughed former linebacker Tommy Smith. "I love that I'm seeing the new change. Everybody is happy. I just love to be back around my friends."

"I think everybody is just out here telling fish stories," joked Daryn Colledge, who made the jump from Boise State to the NFL in 2005. "We're all kind of reliving the dream."

Several players said they wouldn't have expected a similar alumni event during the Chris Petersen era, and agreed that Bryan Harsin's changes have been for the good of the program.

"Obviously nobody is ever going to look back on (Petersen's) accolades and say he didn't do enough for this program, but things are changing," explained Colledge. "It was time to change for him and time to change for this program, and I think it's headed in the right direction."

"They're embracing it," said Smith. "You can just look out there... They got different helmets on, man!"

"It's different. It's changed. Sometimes you need change," he added.
