Hawks return to roost

By Paul Gerke. CREATED Jun 11, 2014

The Boise Hawks have returned to their roost, two days before the start of the 2014 season.

The Chicago Cubs have assigned 26 players to their short-season single-A affiliate so far, a group consisting of 13 pitchers, three catchers, six infielders, and four outfielders. The Hawks will welcome back nine individuals with previous playing experience in Boise.

Boise opens its season Friday against Tri-City. "I don't have to say anything to motivate them. They're chomping at the bit, ready to go," explains manager Gary Van Tol. "If anything, I'm just going to kind of downplay the excitement and make sure they can breathe, still remember how to bat, and throw the baseball."

The complete opening day roster can be found on the Hawks' website.
