Dreams come true for Bronco draft picks

Three former Boise State football players were selected in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Defensive end Demarcus Lawrence was the first to come off the board, with the second pick of the second round on Friday.

Lawrence is headed to Dallas to play for the Cowboys, the same team he rooted for growing up.

"I've been dreaming of the NFL since I was a kid. Now it came to reality and it does nothing but make me more hungry," said Lawrence. "I'm ready to be a Cowboy. I'm ready to go win some games and win a championship."

The next Bronco to be taken was center, Matt Paradis. The former walk-on from Council, Idaho was snatched up by the Denver Broncos late in the sixth round. Matt said he didn't think he could make it to the NFL until his junior year at Boise State.

"It was probably last spring. I had some people getting ahold of me that said 'Hey, you have a chance,' and I was like 'Oh, really?'"

"They're a great organization coming off a great season," Paradis added. "I'm excited to join them and do everything I can to compete in their program."

One round later, Matt's linemate Charles Leno was taken by the Chicago Bears.

"I didn't even know it was gonna happen. I really didn't," said Leno. "I thought I was going to be a free agent. You know, the Lord works in mysterious ways, and I'm just happy to be a Chicago Bear."
