Broncos post big first half, hold on to top Bulldogs

Boise State started Mountain West play with a bang Saturday night, topping Fresno State 86-79 at Taco Bell Arena.

The Broncos (11-3) took a 21-point lead into halftime, thanks to a 20-0 run in midway through the first. Anthony Drmic led BSU in scoring with a 19-point effort. Ryan Watkins chipped in 15 points and added a season-high 17 rebounds. Boise State out-rebounded Fresno State 42-26.

Jeff Elloriaga (4-10) and Nick Duncan (3-4) combined to score 21 points, all from 3-point range.

Boise State will visit (21) San Diego State next Wednesday.
