Fall camp isn't limited to just the Boise State football team. The other kind of football also kicks off its season this month, and the Broncos are sweating out six-straight two-a-days in preparation.
The Boise State women's soccer team went 13-7-3 last year and reached the championship game of the Mountain West Tournament. Experience will be a question mark in 2014. Just two seniors return, and head coach Jim Thomas expects multiple freshmen to be in the starting lineup.
"I think we did a great job last year of establishing a new philosophy, of establishing a foundation of play that we can grow from moving forward," said Thomas. "Although we're very sorry to leave a wonderful class of seniors behind, we're really excited about the young talent that is out playing right now."
Thomas is entering his second year as head coach of the program, and he can tell the Broncos are starting to buy into his system.
"The energy this preseason already has been totally different," he noted. "Very relaxed, joking around... People are up doing mock karaokes. We had a dance off in the dinner hall (Thursday). Just stuff like that, where you can tell players are very comfortable with one another."
Boise State's first game is August 22 against Drake. The Broncos open their home slate September 7 versus Idaho State.
