Nance leading inexperienced front seven

By Paul Gerke. CREATED Oct 18, 2013

The Boise State defensive line will be held under a microscope Saturday night against an explosive Nevada offense. So far this season, the Bronco front seven has masked its inexperience, thanks in part to the performance of Armand Nance.

The sophomore defensive tackle was called into duty in eight games last year. He came on strong at the end of the 2012 campaign, and carried that momentum into this season. Despite playing an interior d-line position, Nance has made the second-most tackles on the team (33), and added a sack and a forced fumble.

Boise State head coach Chris Petersen said he's seen a new found confidence in Armand, who was originally recruited to play on the offensive side of the ball. "He weighed 250-something when he got here and so you're saying 'Okay, he's going to be stopping at the old cookie bin a few times and he's gonna be at that 300-lb mark," laughed Petersen. "And you don't see too many fullbacks or tight ends lining up at 300 pounds," he added.
