Broncos earn split with first-place Aztecs

The Boise State softball team split a doubleheader with San Diego State Saturday afternoon, winning the opener 5-3, and falling 3-2 in the nightcap.
Freshman Sarah Barnes hit a pair of home runs in the first game, including a walk-off three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Rebecca Patton earned the win, pitching a complete game.
The Aztecs were out-hit 10-6 in game two, but blasted three solo home runs (two from Lorena Bauer, one from Patrice Jackson), enabling SDSU to edge BSU 3-2 in eight innings. Kenzie Cole took the loss.
Boise State (18-23-1, 2-6 MWC) and San Diego State (28-15, 6-2 MWC) will play the rubber match at 1pm Sunday at Dona Larsen Park.
