Intense and hard to watch, Prisoners features some truly great performances. Superbly directed and nimbly written, the story is involving. Bonus features include two short featurettes.
Chloe Grace Moretz steals the movie again in Kick Ass 2. Not nearly as shocking or as much fun as the original, it is still worth seeing if you are a fan. Extras include commentary, extended scenes and two featurettes. The Blu-ray adds an alternate opening and four featurettes.
The fourth season of the terrific Emmy winning FX series Justified comes to home video with 13 episodes on three discs along with outtakes, deleted scenes, commentaries, and three featurettes. The Blu-ray adds two featurettes.
One Direction: This is Us is aptly named. It's not really a concert film. This movie, like the guys' hair, is pure fluff from beginning to end, but it's pleasant fluff. Extras include seven featurettes, extended scenes and more.
I liked Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters better than the first film. The effects are improved; the story is more compelling and is even inspirational. Bonus features include four featurettes and more.
And as for the less than stellar releases this week, Matt Damon's Elysium's look is very cool, but the film, overall, not as cool as It should have been.
The Lone Ranger IS as bad as you've heard. They've changed just about everything, and put so much in it, it's boring.
And The Family should have been a knockout, but the film's lame, bland, vanilla script makes it forgettable.
