From Up On Poppy Hill is the latest from legendary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki, and directed by his son, Goro. The over three hours of bonus features include the original Japanese language film, a featurette with the English cast, storyboards and more. It's My Pick of the Week!
The Fugitive - Warner Brothers - Rated PG-13
It's been 20 years since Harrison Ford's The Fugitive was released. Now on blu-ray for the first time, it still holds up as an excellent thriller. Bonus features include a new featurette classic featurettes and more.
Stories We Tell - Lionsgate - Rated PG-13
I had been waiting for the DVD of Sarah Polley's Stories We Tell. I had been looking forward to finding out more about this controversial film. Is it fiction? It is a documentary? A mixture of both? Unfortunately, the disc includes no bonus features. So rent it, and come to your own conclusion.
Ancient Aliens - Lionsgate - Not Rated
Volume one of the fifth season Of the History Channel series, Ancient Aliens comes to DVD this week. Did aliens come to earth in ancient times and leave their mark with things like the pyramids and Stonehenge? The set includes 12 episodes on three discs.
The Iceman - Millenium entertainment - Rated R
Michael Shannon is excellent in the mob drama, The Iceman. Based on a true story, it also stars Ray Liotta and Winona Ryder. Extras include two featurettes.
The Stranger Within - Sony - Rated R
Sarah Butler is the best part of the sleezy, The Stranger Within. Also starring William Baldwin, and Estella Warren, it leaves a few dangling plot lines. But Warren's wooden performance is less than stellar. No bonus features.
There are more releases this week, including Empire State, Arthur Newman, Slightly Single in LA, Now You See Me, The Lords of Salem, and Criminal Minds. Get the details at bobrichardsmoviereviews.com.
