Gourmet for Good dishes up dinner for men's shelter
On Monday, March 24th, Boise's Reel Foods Fish Market will head to River of Life Men’s Shelter armed with 30 pounds of Sockeye salmon, 50 pounds of potatoes from the Idaho Potato Commission and a “bakers dozen” volunteers, including local executive chefs. They will prepare a gourmet meal for the residents of the River of Life shelter as a way to give back to their community.
Peter Blatz with Reel Foods joined Good Morning Idaho to talk about the first-ever Gourmet for Good. He told us this event marks nearly half a ton in total donations of healthy, lean protein to the Boise Rescue Mission from Reel Foods. The guest chefs will be joined by industry specialists and customers and employees of Reel Foods Fish Market, who will help serve the meal during the shelter’s first dinner hour.
If you are looking for a way to contribute, Blatz says they have donation bins set up at Reel Foods to collect food and/or clothing to be given to the Boise Rescue Mission.
