Cupid's Undie Run is the world's largest organized underwear run, and it's coming to Boise for the first time ever. The fun run is already a tradition in cities like Denver and Chicago, and while it seems silly on the surface, it has a serious intent: to raise money for the Children's Tumor Foundation.
Boise Undie Run organizer Hayley Brown told Good Morning Idaho she has an incredibly personal reason for bringing the race to the City of Trees: her daughter Nora was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis 1 at just three months old. NF1 is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow throughout the nervous system. It can cause blindness, deafness, learning disabilities, and chronic pain. While Nora hasn't yet shown any symptoms of the disease, Hayley says the Undie Run is her way of paying it forward: if Nora does eventually need treatment, hopefully there will be more options.
Cupid's Undie Run will take place on Saturday, February 15th. The one-mile fun run starts and ends at Tom Grainey's in downtown Boise. The pre-race party kicks off at noon, the race is at 2 p.m., and then the party continues when the race is over. While it is a run where people are encouraged to show up in their skivvies, Hayley says participants are encouraged to keep it PG-13.
