Melissa McCarthy, Bruce Willis and Boise's own Aaron Paul come to DVD and blu-ray this week.
Identity Thief - Universal - Rated R
The gimmick with Identity Thief - that of someone stealing another's identity and showing what she does with it, is over after the first 30 minutes. After that, it morphs into a standard buddy road comedy. Bonus features include a featurette, a gag reel, and an unrated version of the film. The blu-ray adds alternate takes and two featurettes.
A Good Day to Die Hard - 20th Century Fox - Rated R
In A Good Day to Die Hard, Bruce Willis' character John McClain suddenly has a grown son. This grown son works for the CIA and McClain pops in on him during the middle of some spyjinks, resulting in the destruction of more windows, cars, people and buildings than I could count. I guess there is a plot in there somewhere, but I couldn't tell through all the explosions. Bonus features include an extended cut of the film, deleted scenes, commentary, multiple featurettes and more.
Breaking Bad Season 5 - Sony - Not Rated
Featuring Emmy winning Boise native and newlywed Aaron Paul, the fifth season of the Emmy Award winning series Breaking Bad comes to home video with all 8 episodes plus over 9 hours of extras including a gag reel, deleted and extended scenes, featurettes, commentaries and much more. It's My Pick of the Week!
Escape From Planet Earth - Anchor Bay - Rated PG
You can tell what Escape From Planet Earth is going to be from its bland voice cast: The net result is inert and unremarkable. Nothing original, but it is shiny. Extras include commentary, two featurettes, deleted scenes and more.
Warm Bodies - Lionsgate - Rated PG-13
Warm Bodies is a Romeo & Juliette mash up with zombies, owing much to Twilight. It's got a fun idea, it's just not carried out very well. Unfortunately, it barely has a pulse. Extras include nine featurettes, deleted scenes, a gag reel and more.
