These ar ethe new movies on DVD, according to how Bob Richards sees them:
If I Were You - Kino Lorber - Rated R
Here's a little gem of a movie that I loved. Marcia Gay Harden is spectacular in the wickedly funny, delicious comedy If I Were You. It has a fun, outrageous story, satire, and a load of laughs. I can't figure out why, but this didn't get very good reviews. Don't believe them! I had a terrific time. Extras include cast interviews.
Dexter - CBS Home Video - Not Rated
Still one of the best shows on television, the seventh season of the Showtime series Dexter comes to home video with all 12 episodes, and contains some shocking plot twists...
Cloud Atlas - Warner Brothers - Rated R
While watching Cloud Atlas, an hour into it I didn't know what it was about…two and a half hours in I still didn't know, but I was checking my watch and wishing I hadn't had that last cup of tea. It opens with a mind numbing hodgepodge of time jumping and barely discernable pigeon English. It went downhill from there. The film is over ambitious, self indulgent nonsense. Extras include a featurette, the blu-ray adds seven featurettes.
Texas Chainsaw - Lionsgate - Rated R
After using the seminal 1974 film as an intro, Texas Chainsaw quickly devolves into a typical run of the mill horror film. The original changed film making. This one just perpetuates a tired genre. There are meat hooks and chainsaw disembowelments, but it seems tired. It's not awful, but there is nothing earth shattering here. Bonus features include commentaries and seven featurettes.
