Grab your purple clothing and don it as much as you can during April to show children of military parents that you support them and the sacrifices they make.
Purple up is a time to honor the the impact their parents and loved ones who are deployed make in the service of our nation. Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, as it is the combination of Army green, Navy blue, Marine Corps red, Air Force blue and Coast Guard blue.
While Purple up is happening on Friday, April 13th, the entire month of April is "Month of the Military Child."
There is also a virtual event going on locally. Clayton Arnold, with Overland Court Senior Living and Memory Care, has started a Facebook page to gather pictures of everyone taking part in Purple Up! So snap a photo of you in your plum, lavender, and violet and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org. He'll get your picture added to the whole collection so military kids can see all the support given to them.
Also, head to see Chicks n' Giggles Improv show this weekend, where they'll give you a $2 discount for wearing purple.
