It’s time for my annual New Year’s look at the year’s cinematic highs and lows…The movies that made me laugh, cry and cringe - some for the wrong reasons…
Well let’s get started. Here are the five worst movies of 2012.
(Samsara - Oscilloscope - Not Rated)
Samsara. If you missed this stinker, you’re in luck! This plotless, wordless mind numbing film is a total waste of time. I left wondering if it had inflicted any lasting brain damage.
(The Man With Iron Fists - Universal - Rated R)
The Man With Iron Fists. This is a vanity project gone horribly awry. The Wu Tang Clan's RZA wrote, directed and stars in this bomb. I don't know if you can really call what he does acting, or writing, or directing. This desiccated bowl of steaming tripe is simply awful.
(Project X - Warner Brothers - Rated R)
Project X contains nothing that has any redeeming value whatsoever. Supposedly a comedy, there isn't a laugh to be found in the entirety of this utterly unwatchable film. Shot so poorly with the "Shaky Cam Ultra," it will give the audience nausea…it gave me that plus a two-day headache.
(A Thousand Words - Paramount - Rated PG-13)
Number 2 is an apt description for A Thousand Words. I wish the producers had used two words before the production began. "No, thanks." It won't take a thousand words to tell you about Eddie Murphy's latest try at a comedy. Nope, it will just take one. Terrible.
And the worst movie of 2012 is…
That’s My Boy
(That's My Boy - Columbia - Rated R)
Crude and extraordinarily crass just for the sake of being filthy, most of the laughs in Adam Sandler’s That's My Boy are the nervous kind…It is inappropriate and just plain wrong from beginning to end. Crude can be funny…but here, I didn't laugh at all.
