What would Thanksgiving be without turkey? For many Idahoans, traditions like a big turkey dinner is an extravagance they just can't afford.
Today Winco generously donated more than 3,000 turkeys to the Idaho Food Bank. Food Bank leaders say it's a donation that goes a long way toward their goal of collecting 15,000 turkeys for the holidays.
"We still see that 1 in 6 Idahoans are struggling with hunger. We still have a number of families in our communities who are trying to make ends meet. So this type of donation really gets us a lot farther in being able to meet those needs," said Karen Vauk, President and CEO of the Idaho Food Bank.
Those much needed turkey donations can be dropped off at any Les Schwab Tire store or the Idaho Food Bank warehouse, located just off of Federal Way near Overland.
And remember, thousands more turkeys will be needed after Thanksgiving for the Christmas holiday.
