Some 3,000 Idaho Power Company customers were without electricity for several hours early Monday morning when strong winds whipped through the Treasure Valley.

Crews repaired lines and restored power to most areas by mid-morning.

Today’s 6/Fox 9 meteorologist Scott Dorval says winds reached some 50 miles an hour in the Boise area.

East of Boise, winds gusts as high as 60 miles an hour were reported near Mountain Home.

Parts of the Magic Valley reported gusts of over 70 miles per hour.

And officials in eastern Idaho and the Pocatello area reported winds of almost 60 miles an hour.

In Boise, many neighbors reported trees uprooted and branches thrown into power lines.
At 18th and Bella Streets in Boise North End neighborhood, wind uprooted a huge tree, causing it to fall and clip the roof of a house.

In the Mockingbird Mobile Home Park on East 40th Street in Garden City, a woman told us she heard a loud boom this morning. When she looked outside, she found a tree had apparently been blown down by the winds and smashed her car. Crews had to take chain saws to remove the tree.
Bogus Basin was also closed as a precaution, after officials there determined they could no longer safely operate the chairlifts because of high winds.

Power outages and wind damage were also reported in Nampa, Caldwell, Wilder, Meridian, Eagle, Star and Kuna.

Strong winds in the Magic Valley knocked over two semis, prompting officials to shut down the Perrine Bridge in both directions. No one was injured.

Two semitrailers were also blown over on the Hansen Bridge.
