Simplot lays off workers from Caldwell plant
CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) -- J.R. Simplot Co. is laying off 262 workers from its potato processing plant in Caldwell in southwestern Idaho.
KTVB-TV reports in a story on Friday that the company plans to build a new plant in Caldwell to replace the one that's closing.
The company says workers laid off this year can apply for jobs at the new plant.
About 250 workers will be employed at the new plant.
