Ring could hold clues to WWII-era crash at Idaho National Lab

By On Your Side Newsroom. CREATED May 26, 2014

Some of those being honored on Memorial Day died in a mysterious crash at the Idaho National Lab. Their B-24 bomber crashed on a training run Jan. 8, 1944. All seven on board died and the wreckage was removed from what later would become the INL site.

Archaeologists recently returned to the crash site and found items that were not removed. They left the site untouched except for a class ring that was found. They hope to identify the owner and return it to his family. The cause of the crash has never been determined.
