New fire in Sawtooth National Forest discovered Monday night
On Monday night the U.S. Forest Service identified a new fire in the Sawtooth National Forest in Elmore County. The fire was named the Kelly Creek Fire.
The fire is located in Kelly Creek just south and west of the Baumgartner Camp Ground area.
The Forest Service reported increased fire activity today and has ordered a Pre Evacuation Order effective Tuesday morning at 8:00 am. from Willow Creek to Skelton Creek. Willow Creek is 6 miles east and upriver from the Featherville Bridge. Skelton Creek is above the Baumgartner Campground area.
Elmore County Deputies will be going door-to-door and to area campgrounds to give the Pre Evacuation order to residents and campers.
The Elmore County Sheriff's Office is encouraging people who may have placed their campers in any area above Featherville to Skelton Creek for camping this upcoming Labor Day weekend to retrieve their trailers on Tuesday and follow Law Enforcement orders while in the area.
