Meridian Police: Neighborhood prowler may be back

By Steve Bertel. CREATED Sep 4, 2014 - UPDATED: Sep 4, 2014

Meridian Police officers are asking the public to be vigilant and secure their homes -- even when they are home at night. This comes after a report of a Meridian resident coming home to find a man inside his house.

Late last winter and early spring, the Meridian Police Department investigated numerous prowler incidents.

“After much news coverage, the incidents seemed to end, But after several months, it appears the suspect may be back,” said Meridian Police Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea.

Early Wednesday morning, a homeowner was returning from work when he noticed a man leaving his home through a back door. The homeowner contacted Meridian Police, who were unable to locate the suspect.

This incident occurred in the 3000 block of N. Sheephorn, which is in the same area where previous prowler incidents occurred several months ago.

If you have any information about this incident, you are urged to call the Meridian Police Department at 888-6678.
