Man calls Pocatello Police after rollover crash lands him on top of a cliff above Hildreth Road
On Friday at 6:35 a.m., Pocatello Police Department received a call from a man who said he had driven off a cliff. The man, Evan Daniel Frampton, 58, of Layton, Utah, could only give his location as being between Pocatello and Utah.
Further questioning by the dispatcher indicated that Frampton was possibly still in the Pocatello area, in the vicinity of Century High school. Officers from Pocatello Police Department and Bannock County Sheriff's Office drove through the area with lights and sirens activated, hoping that Frampton would see or hear them, thus determining his location.
Pocatello police located the vehicle in the vicinity of southbound Interstate 15, near milepost 65, north of Century High School, with Bannock County Sheriff's Officers arriving shortly thereafter.
Frampton was driving south on Interstate 15 near milepost 65 when he drove into the median, overcorrected, slid off the right side of the road, and went through a right-of-way fence. The vehicle came to rest at the top of a cliff above Hildreth Road.
Frampton was wearing a seatbelt. He was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, ID.
The investigation is continuing.
