Kuna native, Medal of Honor recipient laid to rest

By On Your Side Newsroom. CREATED Aug 25, 2014

A true Idaho hero has been laid to rest.

Bernard Fisher, who was awarded the Medal of Honor, died a week ago in Boise.

In 1966, the Kuna native risked his life in Vietnam to rescue a fellow pilot who crash landed on an airstrip surrounded by enemy forces.

The Colonel Bernard Fischer Veteran’s Memorial Park in Kuna was named after the Idaho hero as well as a highway in Utah.
