Kamiah man dies in ATV crash
At 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, 73-year-old Earl “Scotty” Knight was reported overdue from a solo ATV ride. Knight left his residence that afternoon for a short ride and did not return. Idaho County Sheriff's Office Dispatch was advised that family and friends were out searching for him.
As members of the Sheriff's Office prepared to begin the search, a family member announced they had located Knight and he was deceased.
The evidence suggests that after encountering a tree across the trail, Scotty was attempting to turn his ATV around on a steep slope when the ATV rolled over on him.
Sheriff Giddings said “It is a good idea to always ride in pairs; if an accident occurs someone can go for help."
