Idaho coaches, ESPN reporter, and “Ron Burgundy” to appear at Big Brothers/Big Sisters fundraiser
“Magical Moments,” Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho’s largest fundraiser for the year, is scheduled to be held this Saturday, May 31st at the Century Link Arena in Boise.
Organizers say the event will feature a unique multi-sport theme that will encourage attendees to revisit their youth, get competitive, and see the power of mentoring both on and off the field.
Former Boise State University head football coach Dan Hawkins has been heading up the efforts to assemble a group of local coaches and players in support of youth mentoring programs.
“Life is about making a difference,” Hawkins said. “’Magical Moments’ will provide an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of many of our community’s youth.”
The fundraiser aims to raise $50,000 to support mentoring relationships for children in Ada and Canyon Counties.
Also scheduled to attend will be former BSU head coach Skip Hall, College of Idaho Football Head Coach Mike Moroski, and ESPN sports reporter Heather Cox.
Idaho On Your Side Sports Director Paul Gerke will emcee the event, doing his now-famous dead-on impersonation of “Anchorman” Ron Burgundy.
The event starts at 6:30 pm Saturday.
If you are interested in attending as a donor, you are urged to visit the Big Brothers/Big Sisters website at at www.bbbsidaho.org. and look for “Event information.”
