Idaho Marketplace Sign-up Still Slow

The government shutdown didn't put the brakes on Obamacare. Idaho's own healthcare exchange has been overloaded since it launched yesterday.
Most of the people trying to sign-up with Your Health Idaho, Idaho's exchange marketplace, are put on hold. One local broker is telling its clients to hold tight.
"This is not a sprint,” said Jenna Ortiz of Shores Insurance. “This is a marathon. Everybody's trying to get in at once. We have time."
People attempting to apply for the state's healthcare program online are running into slowly loading pages and error messages.
Brokers are urging patience. They also recommend taking them up on their offer to help.
"I think everybody should look into using an independent broker that can shop with several different companies,” said Eva Shores of Shores Insurance. “You want someone who knows what they're doing."
As a broker, Shores Insurance is able to access a tool allowing agents to compare different policies.
With more than one-hundred and forty plans to choose from - and four levels of coverage in each option - that's a helpful tool.
"It is important that each individual as well as businesses know what their options are both in and outside the exchange and how this is going to affect them overall," said Ortiz.
Shores can't sign people up for a plan until traffic slows down. But by shopping around ahead of time, folks can educate themselves on their options.
The other option is to independently sign up through Your Health Idaho's website. But as thousands found out over the last two days, that way is not without its headaches.
"Right now they're going to be looking at being on the internet for a really long time because it's taking forever," said Ortiz.
