Idaho GOP to keep 2014 state convention in Moscow
MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) -- Idaho Republican Party leaders have decided to keep their 2014 state convention in Moscow after all.
The party's state executive committee unanimously agreed Wednesday to keep the big June event in Moscow and the Kibbie Dome on the University of Idaho campus.
The decision to keep the convention in Moscow comes despite threats by the leader of the state's dominant political party to shop for another location.
Idaho Republican Chairman Barry Petersen clashed earlier this month with local GOP official Walter Steed during a meeting of Latah County Republicans. Petersen said he was rebuffed by Steed when he tried to speak at the county party's monthly meeting.
Steed subsequently apologized and offered to resign as chairman of the Latah GOP if it helped keep the state convention in Moscow.
