Mark your calendars – the National Letter Carrier Stamp Out Hunger event is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2014. This is our largest food drive of the year, and we can’t do it without your help!
Led by letter carriers represented by the National Association of Letter Carriers (AFL-CIO), with the help of rural letter carriers, other postal employees and numerous other volunteers, the drive has resulted in delivery of more than one billion pounds of donations to community food banks and pantries over the past 20 years.
Last year in The Treasure Valley the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive raised over 170,000 pounds. As letter carrier Candace Lincoln told Good Morning Idaho, this year they hope to raise 175,00 pounds!
To donate, just place nonperishable food items into paper or plastic bags, and leave them on or near your mailbox by 9am Saturday. Letter carriers will collect donations while on their usual routes.
