The Boise Hawks beat the Vancouver Canadians 3-1 in game one of a doubleheader Sunday. Boise has beaten the defending Northwest League champions in six consecutive meetings after dropping the first three of the season in July.
The Hawks took 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a Danny Lockhart triple and an ensuing Kris Bryant sacrifice fly. Rony Rodriguez broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI double, and Tyler Bremer was able to preserve the victory with his sixth save in six opportunities. Yasiel Balaguert and Bryant each had two hits. Bryant's hitting streak was extended to 14 games.
Jose Arias earned the win after pitching three clean innings in relief of starter Jose Rosario. Rosario struck out five Canadians in five innings of work, allowing just three hits and one run.
