A Garden City man has been arrested following an assault on a repossession agent with a pickup and fleeing from a Garden City Police officer.

Police witnessed a pickup truck driving at a high rate of speed on Veterans Memorial Parkway and Adams Street on August 25.

An officer turned on his police lights to stop the truck, but lost the truck near Stilson Street. The officer found the truck a short time later, but the vehicle drove back onto Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Police decided to stop the pursuit after witnessing the pickup drive onto a sidewalk, around several stopped vehicles and almost cause multiple accidents.

While the police pursuit was occurring, dispatch was notified of a hit and run accident on east 43rd Street in Garden City.

The description of the vehicle matched the reckless truck on Veterans Memorial Parkway and officers found the truck on 36th Street and Sunset. The truck was found to be crashed into a light pole with significant damage.

Officers arrested Edward Vine on aggravated battery and eluding a police officer. A further investigation found that two agents were trying to repossess the vehicle when Vine became violent and ran over the agent with his truck.

The agent has been hospitalized and is receiving treatment for his injuries.

The Boise Police Department responded to the scene of the accident at 36th and Sunset and handled the accident investigation at that location.

The case is still under investigation and additional charges may be filed at a later time.
