The Elmore County Sheriff's Office ordered mandatory evacuations for the town of Featherville around 5 p.m. Tuesday as the Elk Fire grows to more than 102,000 acres.
As of 11 p.m. Tuesday night, fire crews confirm there are 71 structures damaged or destroyed as a result of the blaze. No word on whether any of those structures are homes.
Some homeowners decided to stay behind, hoping to wait out the flames as they wish to hold on to their homes and livelihoods.
