The Kelley Fire 7 miles southeast of Featherville is currently 17,346 acres and 97% contained. The Fairfield Ranger District has reported that it will reduce the closure for the Kelley Fire on Wednesday.
"Due to hard work by firefighters, cooler temperatures and rainfall, the need for the current closure has been reduced. We would like to remind the public that there is a need for special caution when entering a burned area," said Public Affairs Officer Julie Thomas.
Forest visitors may see smoke over the next several days. In addition, firefighters are still working in the closed area and there will be continued activity as they secure the area.
Visitors should use caution when driving and yield as necessary since fire trucks are still in use in the area.
