Escaped inmate captured in Boise
If the name Rodney Lee Seiber is familiar to you, it's because he's the fugitive recently captured in Montana after allegedly carjacking a van in Nampa and vanishing into a corn field.
The escape was reported to Ada County dispatchers Thursday night by a private security company transporting Seiber to Canyon County.
Initial information indicates Seiber escaped when the security company's vehicle stopped to let him use the restroom.
The incident occurred near the Orchard Access Road. Seiber was last seen along Mayfield Road near exit 71 north of I-84 in east Ada County.
A geocast message was sent out to houses near Mayfield Road to warn residents the inmate was likely in that area.
Officers set up a perimeter, shut down traffic on that section of the interstate, and began searching the area.
A few minutes after 7 p.m., as the search was underway, Seiber walked from a brushy area toward an officer and turned himself in without further incident.
The 36-year-old was taken to the Ada County Jail to be interviewed and booked on an escape charge.
