Some Eagle residents say the city council president has to go. Residents created a petition last week to boot Pres. Mary McFarland out of office.
Several people complained about McFarland's attitude at public meetings, calling her negative and unprofessional. They claim McFarland, along with other city council members, violated the open meetings law.
“It's inappropriate, it can be corrected. We understand as she states frequently she has a lot of passion for the city and we appreciate that, but citizens do as well and everyone is entitled to be heard and respected for what they say," said Eagle resident Jane Kramer.
"I was taken off guard just because I hadn't heard any rumblings of people being specifically unhappy with me and what I've done,” responds McFarland.
For the petition to succeed, almost 2,500 people must sign it. Then all of those signatures must be validated by July 14. McFarland will have a chance to fight it, but the people who talked to Idaho On Your Side say they will ask her to resign.
