College of Idaho student lands NASA summer internship

By Karen Lehr. CREATED May 18, 2014
College of Idaho junior Seth Raver will spend 10 weeks in Virginia this summer working closely with professionals at NASA.

"They said it was pretty competitive, so thats why I was like, 'I'm a small town kid from a small school,' but I figured I'd give it a shot I mean it couldn't hurt to apply," Raver said.

The math physics major applied for the prestigious internship earlier this school year.

"I didn't really think I would get it because it's NASA, So it's kind of intimidating," he said.

NASA has been on Raver's mind since he was a young boy.

"Since I was a little kid I talked about doing aerospace, which is kind of where NASA's niche is," he said. "It just kind of wrapped around and actually turned out to be what it looks like I'm heading toward!"

He was home with his family in Kuna when he logged on line to see the good news about his application.

"I freaked out definitely. I pulled up the email and then I read it four times before I said anything and then I kind of just freaked out and celebrated with my family!" Raver said. "I'm mostly excited-nervous, so I'm ready to get there!"
