CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) -- A Nampa man has pleaded guilty to his role in the August 2012 shooting death of another man who was first ordered to dig his own grave.

The Idaho Statesman reports 24-year-old Christopher "Mikey" Duran pleaded guilty Tuesday to aiding and abetting second-degree murder in exchange for this dismissal of a charge of lewd conduct with a child under 16. Sentencing is set for Oct. 3.

Duran testified at the first-degree murder trial of Gregory Higgins Jr., who was convicted last week of killing 27-year-old James Groat at Lake Lowell.

Prosecutors argued Groat was lured to the lake and killed because Higgins wrongly believed he was a police informant.

Duran was set to face trial this week for first-degree murder and lewd conduct.
